Reed Hastings, the Netflix co-founder and CEO explained in his keynote how the number of hours watched on Netflix has gone up from 12 billion hours in Q4 up from 8.25 billion a year ago. The service boasted of Adaptive Streaming and a decentralized network covering 190 countries with 125 million hours of content being delivered each day. Netflix has added a whopping 130 new countries as announced in the keynote today and here is the list of all the countries where Netflix is available....

Robin is launched on Kickstarter for $299 and it is an overly boxy phone with a 5.2-inch FHD display, USB Type-C and is powered by the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 SoC tagged with a 3GB of RAM. Spec-wise, Robin is at par with premium flagships like LG G4, and if marketed aptly, it might be able to steal the show and also take away some of the LG Nexus & OnePlus 2 audiences....

It was not a great time for the tech company, who has been trying to compete with Apple’s iPhone and instead found itself dealing with a pretty big safety crisis. Devices were recalled and things seemed to calm down for a bit, but it looks like Samsung may not be out of the woods yet. Last month we got word of a washing machine that blew up in Texas, and now reports are coming out of Michigan that a Samsung phone ignited....

One of these announcements is in the field of AI, where, using Microsoft AI, the company has integrated a new feature in Outlook (for iOS), called ‘Play My Emails’. Essentially, the feature utilizes Cortana (Microsoft’s assistant) to offer users with what’s new in their inbox by playing it out loud. The idea behind the feature stems from the fact that a lot of users spend a huge chunk of their time looking at emails, messages, social media, etc....

Again, I asked Microsoft if they’d say this publicly. No word back so far. Update (August 1): Microsoft updated its blog post on the Release Preview test build of Windows 10 22H2 with the following information: “This build is focused on validating the servicing technology. Windows 10, version 22H2 has a scoped set of features and Microsoft will share more details on this update later this year.” Microsoft officials have not said when to expect Windows 10 22H2 (or Windows 11 22H2, for that matter) to start rolling out to the mainstream....

Although we have not had many demonstrations in this area recently, with the last cumulative update of Windows 10, an application was installed on certain devices, in a non-consented or authorized way, which aroused displeased user opinions. The application is called “Photo Add-Ons” and has been installed on some devices, automatically and without user authorization, along with the last cumulative update of Windows 10, which is released on October 10....

Motorola today announced on Twitter that it is bringing the highly anticipated Moto 360 to Canada on October 31st. The company will be selling the smartwatch through TELUS retail stores and their website, and via FutureShop. — Motorola Canada (@Motorola_CA) October 17, 2014 The watch will be available in Stone Gray and Black Leather colors for $279 before taxes. The Moto 360 went on sale in the United States in September, but thanks to the high demand and supply issues, it has been an incredibly tough device to get your hands on....

user Mcughlin posted a screenshot from his Nexus 5, showing a Now card detailing “gas stations on your route,” as first reported by Android lice. Mcughlin offered other details in the ensuing + discussion about his discovery. He said he wasn’t using any Maps navigation features at the time, so Now was probably using his driving history current direction to guess at to which stations to suggest. He said when clicking a station, it launched Maps offered navigation to that specific location....

Nokia Daredevil With 48-Megapixel Camera, Snapdragon 730 SoC Leaked!! A few months ago, HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia smartphones shocked everyone with its all-new Nokia 9 Pureview. The biggest highlight of that phone is its five-camera setup. With its unique five camera arrangement at the back, people thought it couldn’t get any weirder. The tablet, which runs on ’s Android 4.4 OS, has Intel’s quad-core Atom chip, code-named Bay Trail. The chip is capable of running -class applications rendering high-definition video. The 8-inch S8 offers 1920 x 1200-pixel resolution, which is also on ’s 7-inch Nexus 7. The S8 is priced lower than the Nexus 7, which sells for $229. The Tab S8 is 7.87 millimeters thick, weighs 294 grams, runs for seven hours on a single battery charge....

Earlier today, LG announced its financial results for the previous fiscal year revealing that it managed to ship 59.7 million smartphones in 2015, though it suffered a loss of 43.8 billion won. More interestingly though, LG announced in its press release that it will be launching two new flagship handsets this year to help improve its profitability. LG is already expected to unveil the LG G5 at the Mobile World Congress next month, thus suggesting that it will launch another flagship handset in the second half of this year....

LG today announced two new smartphones under its new X series of smartphone lineup: the X5 and X Skin. The smartphones have only been announced for South Korea, LG’s home market, for now, but a wider rollout should occur within the next month or so. The entry level handsets don’t really sport any unique feature to boast about, though LG has tried to differentiate the phone through some software features....

Earlier this month, there were reports that the move for changing the name company’s name is to build a metaverse. Zuckerberg said privacy and safety should be built into the metaverse. At the company’s Connect Event, Zuckerberg said, Facebook is Now Known As ‘Meta’ According to Mark Zuckerberg, the name Facebook doesn’t fully confine everything the company is now doing. It is still linked to one product. But in the future, we will see it as a metaverse company....

It’s a triumph of design and component choices over price, really. After all, what on earth would compel any self respecting smartphone fan to pay £400 for a 4.7”, 720p-screened, Snapdragon 410-powered phone in late 2015? Because this is arguably the best music-phone in the history of the industry. A dedicated Wolfson sound card, twin headphone jacks, analogue(ish) volume control and some of the loudest and definitely the most high quality stereo, front facing phone speakers I’ve ever heard....

In a blog post, the tech giant announced the news. Diego Duarte Moreira pointed out, building the “next chapter of the internet, and the next chapter of our company too: building metaverse.” Instead of holding an event this year, Meta will organize its Conversations, an “inaugural business messaging event,” on May 19. Meta Is Focusing On New Initiatives Like Metaverse Since 2019, the company hasn’t held a live F8 conference; due to Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021, the F8 was held online....

“Similar to years past, we are taking a brief break in programming and will not hold F8 in 2022 while we gear up on new initiatives that are all tailored towards the next chapter of the internet, and the next chapter of our company too: building the metaverse,” said Diego Duarte Moreira, Facebook’s director of developer and startup programs. In announcing the F8 pause, Moreira said Meta will be holding an “inaugural business messaging event”, called Conversations, on May 19 and still plans to have a Connect event in October....

Teams users with laptops equipped with Apple’s M1 or M2 chips should be noticing a better experience as Microsoft broadens the rollout to a version of Teams as a universal binary that runs on Intel and Apple silicon. Apple started the rollout in early August and marked it as generally available in September. It didn’t give users an option to download the universal binary as it opted to roll it out automatically in increments....
