Once upon a time, Android lacked a lot of features and it was actually quite hideous to look at. Companies like HTC, Samsung, Sony, what have you, they created Android skins because they wanted to actually provide their customers with a better experience. Fast forward to today and stock Android is gorgeous and packed to the brim with functionality, but those same software skins still exist because customers identify TouchWiz with Samsung, Sense with HTC, and TimeScape (old name?) with Sony. It’s debatable whether these skins are still needed, but enough about that, let’s get to today’s latest leak.
Later this year, HTC is going to launch a 5.9 inch phone called the HTC One Max. Rumors say it’ll be the first HTC phone to launch with Android 4.3, and more importantly, it’ll be the first to have Sense 5.5. What you’re looking at above is the home screen for Sense 5.5, and from the look of it, it’s a lot cleaner than what’s currently shipping on the One and those new Desires. Speaking about the One, when will it get Sense 5.5? Again, citing the rumors, they say roughly around the time the One Max starts shipping, which is currently estimated to be around late October or November. That’s not exactly far away, but not close either. But by then we’ll all be talking about the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat, right?
