Nvidia has started sending out press invites for an event on March 3 where it promises to be unveil something that has been in the making since the last five years. The invite also states that whatever will be unveiled by Nvidia will “redefine the future of gaming.” In all probability, Nvidia is going to announce some consumer grade gaming hardware at the event that will be powered by its recently unveiled Tegra X1 “superchip,” which features an octa-core 64-bit CPU and a 256-core Maxwell GPU. It is also the first mobile chip to offer a teraflop of computing power with a power consumption of only 10W. Rumors have indicated that Nvidia will be launching the successor to the SHIELD tablet later this month, but that is very unlikely to happen, especially since the company has always operated on a one-year refresh cycle for its products. Looking at the lack of leaks surrounding Nvidia’s unveiling, it will be interesting to see what the company announces on March 3.
