Earlier this month, the remaining part of Nokia released the first beta of HERE Maps for Android. Sadly, the app was available exclusively for Samsung devices with at least 1GB of RAM and running Android 4.1 or higher. Thanks to the strong interest and popular demand in HERE Maps for Android though, the team has decided to make the app available for a wider variety of Android devices running Android 4.1 or higher. In their blog post, the team also mentions that it is listening to all the criticism and reviews of its apps eagerly and fixing all the reported bugs. It has also nearly nailed the bug where cache cleaning apps accidentally delete the voice navigation data of the app and will roll out an update within a few weeks. One of the biggest advantage of HERE Maps over Google Maps is its full-fledged offline mode allowing you to download map data of entire countries at a time for offline usage. The HERE team is not using the Play Store for distributing the APK though, so you will have to head over to their website to grab the APK.
