Nokia and Xiaomi today announced that they have signed a multi-year business collaboration agreement that will see them work together on IP Routing, optical transport solutions for data center interconnect, and more. The agreement between the two companies also includes a cross-licensing agreement of standard cellular essential patents between the two companies. The transaction also sees Xiaomi acquire patent assets from Nokia. Both companies will also explore areas for further cooperations like Internet of Things, Augmented reality, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. Xiaomi will also be sourcing network equipment “designed to deliver the high capacity, low power requirements” from Nokia as a part of this deal. TY Nokia had announced a patent license agreement with LG in 2015. The Finnish company has over 60+ OEMs licensing its various IPs related to 2G, 3G, and 4G communication.
