It’s also a happy Friday for AT&T customers, who are seeing a bunch of updates, though unfortunately none of those bring the new Android OS. Each week we gather up all the major software updates for the biggest devices; phones tablets on U.S. carriers ( unlocked phones, of course), wearables, round them all up so you don’t miss a thing. Making sure your device installs the latest software is a good housekeeping practice, ensuring you have the latest features, close security holes, squash those pesky bugs.
Nexus
Nexus 5, 7, 9, 10: These devices should see the llipop update any day now through an over-the-air update (it hit my Nexus 7 on Nov. 13). Keep in mind that for tablets the update will come sooner for the -Fi-only models. AT&T
Galaxy S4: It’s not llipop, but it puts you one step closer with Android 4.4.4. Update KTU84I337UCUFN also brings a fix to E911, version 2.0 of Samsung’s Knox security software, other bug fixes security updates. Galaxy Tab S 8.4: This one is a pretty boring update, with KOT49H.T707AUCU1AN only bringing you carrier “billing enhancements,” ATTMail, Keeper, Yobile. You’re also stuck at 4.4.2. Galaxy Tab S 10.5: ong with the same AT&T bloatware as the Tab S 8.4, the bigger version of Samsung’s tablet gets the Milk Music application in the KOT49H.T807AUCU1AN update. Galaxy Note 2: It’s a pretty old device (we’re now on the Note 4), so it’s good for it to get any kind of update. Though it’s rather the mystery what’s actually included, as AT&T only lists “Android OS enhancements” for the KOT49H.I317UCUCN update. Galaxy S3: It’s the same mystery update here. KOT49H.I747UCUFN brings the identical unnamed enhancements. Galaxy Mega: Another snoozer – KOT49H.I527UCUBN brings the “Android OS enhancements” also. G3: The D850 update has several enhancements, including a power glitch fix, security patches, an update to Mobile Service, Mobile TV 6.0, a removal tool for the Skyfire Toolbar. This update will only hit your device via -Fi.
Sprint
Nexus 5: st because you are on Sprint doesn’t mean you’re left out of the llipop brigade – update X210 brings Android 5.0 to your device. It’s the same version ID as what’s listed on the Nexus factory images site, so Sprint has done little to no tinkering.
T-Mobile
Xperia Z1S: There are a couple of neat improvements in this update, including support for in-flight texting -Fi calling enhancements. Grab 14.4.B.0.56 for these add-ons improvements to camera Bluetooth performance.
