Last year right around this time, Google officially announced Photos, a brand new, cloud-based storage option for photos and videos. One of the many bonuses of Photos was the fact that it offered free cloud storage for photos and videos, as long as those videos were recorded in 1080p HD or shot with a phone’s camera of 16MP or lower. Photos will compress images to help reduce data storage, but if you want to store original quality photos, and 4K videos, you’ll need to pay a bit every month to access a certain amount of cloud storage. That could be changing in the near future, though, at least for Nexus-branded smartphones. Google Photos received an update recently, and thanks to Android Police we now have a glimpse of what to expect in some future release as well. The publication states that Google Photos is gearing up to offer free and unlimited storage of original quality photos for those who own a Nexus device. That’s a pretty big bonus for a potential Nexus smartphone buyer. On top of that, the new update suggests Google will be adding album sorting options, and device folders will now appear as album as well. There will also be new exposure and contract controls. If these changes do come to light, will you welcome their arrival?
