Beta programs are one of many ways that developers can test an app, or versions of software, out in the wild ahead of releasing it to the public. And now the folks at Nextbit, the company that recently launched the Robin cloud-focused smartphone, are getting in on the fun as well. Nextbit has officially announced a brand new beta program for software running on the Robin. That means customers can try out full updates, as well as new features, before the public. Nextbit does weigh some caution for those who might want to try it out, though, saying that testing beta software is a risk, and that testers accept that risk to try out new software and features and provide feedback, to make the software ready for prime time. You can sign up for the Nextbit beta program right here. As a Nextbit beta tester, you’ll play an important role in our software’s development. You’ll have a chance to use features that haven’t been released to the public. However, keep in mind the beta program is not intended as a way to quick way to cut to the front of the line for new software. It’s a responsibility, and you accept risk on the behalf of other users. If you are not ready to do that, the beta testing program may not be right for you.” Do you plan on joining up?
