One of the areas that Nextbit wanted to tackle with its Robin smartphone was storage, by offering a focus on cloud storage and giving owners even more space on their phone for the things that matter. Nextbit accomplished that goal for the most part, thanks to its ability to smartly choose apps that can be removed from the phone due to inactivity and stored in the cloud for easy retrieval, as well as handling onboard storage a bit differently from other handsets. Now, the company apparently wants to turn its focus on battery life, and says that, with a future software update, it will improve the Robin’s battery life quite a bit by getting smarter about the software. The new software will land sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. With it, Nextbit says it will learn the user’s habits and optimize functions at the system level to make sure people get the most screen time possible: Nextbit wants to “save your battery before it needs saving,” and if the company can accomplish what they’re setting out to do, it will certainly be a welcomed feature for Robin owners.
