The Samsung Galaxy K a.k.a the Galaxy S5 Zoom is rumored for an announcement in a few days from now in Singapore. One of the key features of this new smartphone + camera hybrid was said to be the camera’s 10x optical zoom. Today, a new leak has given us our first glimpse of this particular feature, thus confirming previous reports. The image also reveals the Galaxy K’s slender form factor which is good to see. As we all know, the Galaxy S4 Zoom was not the slimmest point and shoot cameraphone around, so it’s good to know that Samsung has rectified that with the successor. Interestingly, Samsung has gone with the same golf ball type pattern on the back as we saw on the Galaxy S5 recently, so it’s clear that the company wants this to be more like a variant of its flagship handset and not a standalone device.
Going through the hardware specs of this new point-and-shoot killer, it is expected to feature a 4.8 inch 720p Super AMOLED display, the Exynos 5260 hexa-core SoC, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat. The highlight of the device however will be the 20.2-megapixel camera on the back with the 10x optical zoom. The Galaxy K is expected to be announced on the 29th of April, so we only have about six days left before the mystery is unraveled.
