Motorola today launched the Moto G4 Play in India. The smallest of the fourth generation Moto G was launched by Motorola and Lenovo alongside the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus back in July, though it was not given much spotlight at the launch event.
Unlike the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, the Moto G4 Play is priced at Rs 8,999 which makes it significantly cheaper than its other two Moto G4 siblings. The lower price also means that the Moto G4 Play packs significantly weaker specs than the other two Moto G4 variants. The handset comes with a 5-inch 720p LCD display, with a Snapdragon 410 chipset under the hood. This is paired with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. Other specs of the handset include an 8MP f/2.2 shooter with a LED flash, a 5MP selfie shooter, 2800mAh battery with Quick Charge support, a 10W bundled fast charger, GPS, Wi-Fi- b/g/n. and Bluetooth 4.1 LE.
Running a near-stock build of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the Moto G4 Play comes with Motorola’s usual suite of apps and enhancements like Moto Display. It also features VoLTE support thereby making it compatible with Reliance Jio. While the Moto G4 Play is made from polycarbonate plastic, it features a water-repelling coating that makes it splashproof.
