Microsoft today announced Skype Lite, a watered-down version of its messaging and video calling app optimised for 2G connections and low-end Android smartphones. The 13MB app is available in 7 different languages and is optimised to ensure it consumes less data and resources.
Microsoft has also included a special data saver mode that can be enabled to save more data during video calls. Built primarily for the Indian market, Microsoft has integrated Aadhaar with Skype Lite. This will allow one to verify themselves while on a video call, with the data being deleted once the call ends. This feature should particularly come in handy for enterprises for interviews conducted over video calls. Other features of Skype Lite includes integration with SMS messages, spam message blocking, dark theme, chat bot integration, and localisation support. Download: Skype Lite
