LG has just announced a phone that’s only recently been rumored, the G Pro Lite. It’s essentially a Galaxy Note competitor, but instead of offering bleeding edge specifications, it’ll be priced as a midrange device. While I can’t tell you the exact price since it wasn’t in the press release, I can tell you the specs: MediaTek MT6577 processor (dual-core ARM Cortex A9 @ 1 GHz), 1 GB of RAM, 5.5 inch 960 x 540 pixel display, 7.2 megabit per second 3G, 8 MP camera, and a 3,140 mAh battery.
So … yeah, this isn’t a phone for you or me, but when it launches later this month in Latin America (Asia, Russia, China, India, and the Middle East get it later), then it’ll be one incredibly capable phone, depending on the price of course. Oh and in case you’re wondering why I’m calling this a Note competitor, yes, it comes with a stylus, which LG’s marketing materials calls the “Stylus Pen” for some odd reason. Should you buy this thing? I’m going to go out on a limb here and say no. That screen resolution at that size is just terrible. And while I personally have nothing against MediaTek, you should always try to get a phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor inside, unless you want the Galaxy Note II, which only shipped with a Samsung Exynos chip, but that’s OK, since it was (still is) a damn fine chip.
